William Krisel graduated from the University of Southern California School of Architecture. He (with partner Dan Palmer) designed some of the first tract homes in the Coachella Valley. Starting in 1956, Krisel became associated with developers George & Robert Alexander and their first tract of 39 homes was built in the Twin Palms section of Palm Springs, south of Highway 111, including the Ocotillo Lodge. His work, prominently used post-and-beam construction methods and was well know for introducing to the Palm Springs mass market the butterfly roofs, natural stone walls, patterned concrete block, as well as clerestory windows.
